This week we usher in the Year of the Wooden Horse on the Chinese Zodiac calendar, which carries the energy of rebirth and growth.
According to feng shui experts, the horse is a symbol of speedy success and victory because it can whisk people to their destination, so this is a year to take on major life changes, exciting journeys and new romances.
Respected feng shui master Joseph Chau Kam Shing shared his predictions for each animal sign at a recent press conference, revealing that those born between November 11 and February 3 will be particularly fortunate this year.
However, those born on other dates can enhance their luck by paying attention to the feng shui energies in their home.
“This is a year to take on major life changes, exciting journeys and new romances.”
By using a compass, you can identify where the ‘the eight sections of influence’ are located.
This will then tell you where you need to rearrange décor, hang charms or remove disruptive items in order to harness positive feng shui energies – though all of this should be completed before February 4, when the Chinese New Year officially begins.
The South
The south facing area of your home will become one of the luckiest sectors in 2014. It is an area associated with wealth, so this is a good place to store your financial papers to encourage prosperity.
Keep this space beautiful and clean to help the flow of happy energy, and avoid disruptive renovation work if you can.
The North
The north also has the potential to improve your future wealth. Decorate with fresh flowers, candles and happy images, but avoid big mirrors or prints featuring images of water, as these will weaken the area’s prevailing fire element.
The Centre
The centre of your home is very potent for love and romance, so you should display images of romance, travel and exciting creative projects here.
It’s best not to decorate with harmful fire colours like red and orange, or large objects made out of metal, though it is fine to introduce a gentle water element like a decorative mirror.
“Don’t procrastinate when making decisions and you will be rewarded.”
If you have children, this is the perfect place to display their school books or study materials, because this will enhance the area’s education energies.
The West
The west represents luck and career success. Its energies will encourage you to aim high and work harder. Hang achievements such as certificates or diplomas on the walls, and display photographs of people you admire in metal frames to enhance the area’s metal element.
The East
The east will be one of your most challenging areas in 2014.
In order to eradicate its damaging components, you should decorate with metal cures (preferably circular ones) such as bowls or vases, which will weaken the Earth element. You should also avoid strong bright lights or triangular shaped items.
Overall
The Year of the Wooden Horse will be full of hard work, inspiration and new directions. Figures born under this animal sign include Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Hawking, Muhammad Ali and Barbra Streisand, and they all certainly share high-flying careers and a propensity for success.
Don’t procrastinate when making decisions and you will be rewarded – but don’t let yourself get too swept away by the excitement, either!
