Lynbrook is a picturesque suburb located in Melbourne's south-east, on the South Gippsland Highway. Before 1994, it was part of Lyndhurst, but the area has now overtaken its former host, and is in the midst of significant development. The newly completed Lynbrook Station has been a boon for the area, offering train services to residents on the Cranbourne line.
The suburb has two modern schools: Lynbrook Primary School and St Francis de Sales Primary School. On the corner of South Gippsland Highway and Lynbrook Boulevard there is a large shopping centre complex called Lynbrook Village, which boasts thirty-three speciality stores, including a Coles supermarket, ANZ bank, takeaway shops, butchers, bakers, and a chemist. Lynbrook Village Medical Centre is located in the heart of the shopping centre.
Banjo Paterson Park is a beautiful reserve surrounding a large lake. It is a popular spot for barbecues, walking, cycling, football and cricket. Commuting to the city can take less than forty minutes on the Monash, and the Western Port Highway and EastLink are both within easy reach as well. Despite their nearness, traffic and noise in the area are not an issue.
