Echuca is a charming riverside town set on the banks of the Murray and Campaspe rivers. Once Australia's largest inland river port, Echuca is now a favourite holiday spot for water-sports enthusiasts. Crowds gather annually for the Southern 80 water ski race and the Red Cross Murray Marathon. The redgum Echuca Wharf at Port Echuca is the docking station for the world's largest fleet of operating paddlesteamers.
Hare Street and Pakenham Street in the heart of town both boast modern boutiques, delicatessens and bookstores. The Echuca-Moama Transit bus runs three services hourly to Echuca East, Echuca South and Moama, offering a superb public transport connection between the towns. V/Line train services also travel from Echuca to Melbourne via Bendigo, a journey that takes approximately three hours.
