eaglehawk Suburb Profile & Review
Eaglehawk is a charming rustic suburb in Bendigo's north-west. Once a gold mining town in its own right, today it retains many of its original heritage buildings.
Along High Street, there are retail stores, cafes, banks and takeaway shops. The stunning Star Cinema is Bendigo's only arthouse film theatre. Visitors from Melbourne have often expressed awe at its grand location in the Eaglehawk Town Hall. Directly opposite this majestic building, you will find the beautiful Canterbury Gardens. A walk through the landscaped gardens leads to a sports oval and the Bendigo Leisure Centre, which boasts an indoor swimming pool, a waterslide, a health club and a squash court. As the sun sets, residents jog and walk their dogs around nearby Lake Neangar.
The Eaglehawk railway station is the terminus for some V/Line Bendigo trains from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne. Two services a day also travel on to Swan Hill. There are three primary schools in the suburb: Eaglehawk Primary School, Eaglehawk North Primary School and St Liborius Catholic Primary School. Students attend Eaglehawk Secondary College for years 7-10 before going on to complete their VCE at Bendigo Senior Secondary College.

It’s important to note when looking at this data that you don’t just use it on its own. Consider this demographic and real estate data as a whole and seek advice from a professional when thinking of buying or selling your next property.

eaglehawk Income & Mortgage Stats
To calculate the percentage of income paid towards a mortgage for the suburb of Melbourne, multiply the mortgage payment (e.g. $2450) by 12 then divide this figure by the weekly income (e.g. $1200) multiplied by 52 (weeks) to look like this ($2450 x12/$1200 x 52) x 100 = 47%
Any figure above 30% usually indicates that the suburb you intend to buy in may have property owners with a high incidence of mortgage stress. In terms of maintaining or growing property values in the future and trying to secure a strong property price when selling, this could have an impact, especially in an economic or local industry downturn.
