This week the Australian Bureau of Statistics predicted the Australian population will double by 2075. This has concerned many in the property industry, who believe we could face a dire housing shortage.

• In his weekend auction wrap, Peter Sarmas considers whether there is a splitting property market in Melbourne.

• Are you a Victoriana lover like Cate Bakos? The buyer’s advocate chronicles her search for the perfect Victorian era property.

• Do you live in a high risk bushfire area? As we near the onset of summer, this will be a consideration for many homeowners. Here are a few ways you can prepare your property before the start of the bushfire season.

• While Australia’s rising house prices are great for some, many are worried about the wider implications; namely, the impact this could have on first home buyers.

• Finally, you can say goodbye to spring and hello to summer in Belgrave this Saturday. The suburb will come alive during the End of the Line Festival, a free family-friendly event designed to celebrate the area’s artistic community. Musicians, artists, street performers, food trucks and market stalls will line the streets around the train station, while cafes, bars and other surrounding venues will cater to visitors on the day.
