US sharemarkets rebounded from early losses, underpinned by gains in energy and materials stocks. The Dow Jones index ended higher by 200 points or 1.2%, after being down 258pts in early trade. The S&P 500 rose by 1.4% and the Nasdaq lifted 80 points.
